SPONSOR THE RACE TO SUPPORT KIDS IN FOSTER CARE
A group of students a Mt. Hebron High School are carrying on the work of Hannah Arnold a Mt. Hebron alumnus and organizing a virtual 5K and Fun Run for September 5-7, 2020. All of the money raised for this event goes to a local Howard County charity called Voices for Children. All children have a right to a home with loving people to care for them but each year, in the United States, millions of children are abused, neglected, or abandoned by their families. Their only “crime” is that they have been victims. In these cases, many children also become victims a second time, lost in an overburdened child welfare system that cannot pay close attention to each child whose life is in its hands. That is where Voices for Children comes in. They provide trained volunteers (Court Appointed Special Advocates) to abused and neglected children in Howard County, who advocate in court to ensure each child a safe and permanent home. You can visit www.voicesforchildren.org to learn more about this amazing organization.
The race has high participation from the students at Mt. Hebron and their families, as well as the surrounding community. Last year we had over 220 participants! We have attached Voices for Children tax ID number and certificate. Voices for Children is exempt for U.S. Federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and your donation is tax deductible to the extent provided by law. We hope you can help us be heroes to these kids who really need our help. We would be happy to pick up your donations at any time that is convenient to you.
